Job Description
The Nurse Leader is responsible for all basic nursing duties as well as oversight of the nursing staff (RN and LVN), coordination of and evaluation of EMT’s. The Nurse Leader also sits on the infection control committee and collaborates closely with the Infection Control Officer on all facility-specific issues.
• Provide patients and their families with a customer-focused, friendly, reassuring, and open environment that encourages patient participation in health care decisions.
• Assist in patient care to the extent that training and education allow. This may include duties not usually performed, but that are within the scope of practice.
• Encourage a work environment that is friendly and respectful.
• Provide administrative support to physicians from time to time as deemed appropriate for the position.
• Assess patients per company policy.
• Provide general nursing care. This includes therapeutic and diagnostic intervention.
• Provide age-specific education to patients.
• Assure a clean work environment. This may include duties often reserved for housekeeping services, such as emptying trash, mopping floors, and cleaning counters.
• Follow all company policies.
• Encourage a work environment that is friendly and respectful.
• Provide patients and their families with a customer-focused, friendly, reassuring, and open environment that encourages patient participation in health care decisions.
• Participate in the infection control committee and assist with all infection control projects in collaboration with the Infection Control Officer. Assure adherence to infection control plan and policies.
• Assist in hiring.
• Assist in hiring, training, and termination of Nursing and ER tech staff in conjunction with Leadership.
• Conduct performance evaluations for Nursing and ER tech staff.
• Maintain monthly Nursing and ER tech staff scheduling, ensuring all shifts are covered.
• Develop Nursing and ER tech staff Policies and Procedures with input from Leadership.
• Ensure that patient records are accurate and complete.
• Provide patients and their families with a customer-focused, friendly, reassuring, open environment that encourages patients to return to Legacy ER & Urgent Care.
• Follow all HIPAA policies and procedures.
• Review and uphold lab policies and procedures.
• Follow and enforce all company policies.
• Provides clinical expertise in medical management, crisis, and behavior management techniques.
• Provides guidance and support to the staff to better plan workflow.

• This job operates in a healthcare setting. This role may routinely come into contact with patients who have contagious illnesses or diseases. This position would require moderate noise from phones, computers, printers, and medical equipment. The position does require standing, walking, sitting, the use of hands, and reaching. The position may also require climbing, kneeling, or crouching. The position also requires speaking and hearing. The job also requires working near moving mechanical parts and working near toxic or caustic materials. The position requires lifting weights of up to 25 pounds.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business and medical periodicals, insurance forms, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental and HIPAA regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, insurance claim forms, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, groups of managers, and patients.
• Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Unrestricted registered nurse license in the state of Texas.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current PALS/ENPC certification.
• Completion of company-provided laboratory testing education and competency.
• Previous experience in a patient care setting. Experience in an Urgent Care or ER/ICU environment is required.
